Happy Holidays, Nurses! Are you craving for some delicious eggnog?
When we’re stressed from work, a little treat is in order! A frothy glass of tasty eggnog, cuddling up in the fireplace, and listening to Christmas songs is the perfect balm for our tired spirits.
Here are three easy eggnog recipes that we’ve handpicked for you. The first is fancypants if you’re feeling ambitious. The second is a VERY easy recipe because nurses (are busy). And lastly, we got the easiest recipe ever.
So here goes.
1The best eggnog in the world (alcoholic)
It’s the best eggnog in the world, so our source claims. We got this recipe from Meredith Steele from the Jamie Oliver website. We tried this ourselves and it tastes great!
Here is the recipe for 8 people (or one eggnog addict):
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 1 vanilla pod (with the seeds removed)
- 1 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
- 5 eggs (separate whites from yolks)
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup Bacardi Dark Rum
Combine the milk, cream, cinnamon, vanilla bean and seeds, and nutmeg in a saucepan. In medium heat, bring to a boil. Turn off the heat once it boils and let it steep.
Next, beat the egg yolks and sugar until thick ribbons form when you lift the egg beater. Slowly add in the milk and keep on mixing until your mixture becomes smooth. Add your choice of either bourbon and rum. Put in the refrigerator for the night or up to 3 days.
Before consuming, get the egg whites and beat until you form soft peaks. Gently fold into the eggnog mixture. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and serve. Enjoy!
2The easiest eggnog in the world (non-alcoholic)
If you easily get scared away by multi-step recipes or just don’t have the strength for anything complex, then check out this easy recipe.
- 2 eggs
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 2 1/3 cups low-fat milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 dash ground nutmeg
Beat the eggs. Next, blend ALL ingredients. Chill and serve.
3The fastest eggnog in the world
The fastest eggnog in the world is, of course, to head out to your local grocery and buy a carton of the stuff. Some people actually prefer to get their eggnog store-bought having their own brand favorites.
Huffingtonpost came out with an unsponsored taste test and they named 10 brands their tasters liked best. In case you’re curious, the top 3 were Trader Joe’s Egg Nog (#3), Organic Valley Eggnog (#2), and Lactaid Eggnog (#1).
We hope you get your eggnog fix this season and have a delicious holiday at home. Cheers and Happy Holidays, Nurses!
